It’s a sad reality of our times that I must remind everyone: fascism is very bad. It is an ideology that says certain types of people are inferior; it seeks to impose an arbitrary way of life upon us, punishing and prosecuting any person or peoples that are different in any way.

Examples of well-known modern day fascists include: Joanne Rowling, Geert Wilders, Donald Trump, Jair Balsonaro, Viktor Orban, Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, Vladimir Putin, Narendra Modi, Xi Jinping… the list goes on.

While they vary in their tone and precise rhetoric, the principle is always the same: they cannot or will not tolerate any person who does not conform to their world view, and they seem to want nothing short of raw, unadulterated power. Their main tactic is always to identify some sort of enemy or bogeyman, someone to scapegoat, and they insert themselves into positions of absolute power. The fascist principle is a reactionary response to a failing apparatus of state, or the erosion of a set of principles that make up some organisation or belief system… and they see it as their role to make the world “pure”.

Trans people, and specifically trans rights (which are human rights) are under attack all over the world, including in my own country, the United Kingdom. Fascist tactics are being used.

Fascism is bad. Alternatives to fascism include, but are not limited to:

Here is a wikipedia article about fascism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

Fascism is sometimes hard to spot, because people tend to become so overwhelmed by their own daily concerns that they forget the bigger picture.

A general rule of thumb is this:

When a singular individual claims to want to save your soul and restore some vaguely defined era of glory, that’s the first red flag. There will be many more, unless you remove them from the podium while you still can; your life depends on it.

If you see someone that seems to be developing fascist views, it is your moral duty to question them, and challenge them, make them see that they are wrong; however, if they are too far gone, it is your duty to fight them.

Fascists are your enemy, and you must remove them before they remove you.

That is all.
